Self-Sufficient (or “Sennet Does It”)
I took Sennet to school today because Stacie had early appointments. When we got to his classroom he told me he had to pee.
I took him into their bathroom and they have a little toilet about 8 inches off the ground, and a little sink complete with soap dispenser and little paper towel holder – all at kiddie height. I started to help him, but he looked at me sternly and said, “Sennet does it.” So he pulled his pants and then diapers down, sat himself on the toilet, peed, got off the toilet and pulled his diaper and pants back up. He then flushed the toilet and then dispensed soap into his hands, turned on the water, washed his hands and then dried them.
I was quite impressed. I think Stacie has seen him do this numerous times, and I’ve seen him go potty at home a lot, but this was the first time watching him go through the whole process without any help whatsoever. Pretty cool. (At home we often help him up on a chair to wash hands or onto the big toilet, or something).
