A park is a park is a park- not really.
We are so lucky in Seattle to have so many parks and our neighborhood has some of the best parks within a few minutes of our house- so we are doubly lucky. As a casual observer of the number of parks before we had Sennet, I thought they were pretty much the same other than the location. Not true, not true at all. They all have swings and slides but beyond is where the differences reveal themselves. They all have climbing structures but it is very interesting how they all require a different skill set to conquer the various systems. Some require side to side climbing or thoughtful scaling so as not to run out of foot or hand holds. Some require balance while others require strength. Some parks have rope courses while others have bridges, some have sand boxes while others have zip lines, some have see-saws while others have merry-go-rounds, some have super-tall climbing rope structures while others have basketball courts, some have water features while others have hungry ducks waiting for crackers and some parks have more combination of features than others. Of course, the kids and parents who frequent all of these various parks change day to day and this creates a different vibe at each of the parks.
I find myself thinking about how important it is to expose Sennet to lots of activities so he can use various skill sets and find his strengths and passions.
