A week ago Sennet and I tried to go to the swimming pool, but by the time we got there it was sold out. It was raining like crazy, so we had to come up with an alternate plan that didn’t involve the outdoors. I remembered a pottery/ceramic studio where you could go and paint your own plates and cups and things. They would then fire the ceramics and you would have a personal piece of art.
We decided to give it a go, and drove over to Emerald City Fired Arts Studio.
Sennet picked out a plate, chose some colors, and painted for the next hour or so.
Once finished, we gave it to the lady and she told us we could pick it up the following Monday. That was yesterday, and after work I picked Sennet up from school, drove to the studio and picked up his plate. He was very pleased.

Urban Hike
Sennet and I took the dogs on a hike down to Lake Washington this morning.
We walked down through the Madrona Woods and came out at the lake right at the swimming beach. Can’t wait for summer to swim in the lake again.
After throwing rocks in the water, collecting sticks, and looking for clam and mussel shells for a bit we started back up the hill, this time up Madrona Drive.
After a brief detour along the wooden bridge over the canyon, we stopped at the pond to feed the ducks. Then it was on up the hill and back home.
It was about a 2-1/2 mile hike and took us almost two hours.

I started a Project 365- a project where you take a photo everyday with your big camera and edit them as you go (otherwise they just sit on your computer). I didn’t start until Feb 1 because as you know my January was pretty stressful. So far I am loving being forced to pick up my camera each day. I am posting these on my photography site daily with descriptions here but wanted to post them here for Sennet to be able to look back on.

I went to check on him and he said, “Dad, can you believe it snowed?” I asked him how he knew and he said we was watching it from the window.
The next morning we had about 2 inches and it was very heavy wet snow, perfect for snowmen & snowballs – so that’s what we did. It was a very mild day and most of the snow melted away by that evening.
Afterwards we warmed up with some hot chocolate…
