I chapperoned Sennet’s first field trip. We went to Fox Hollow Farms which is about 25 minutes from his school. The kids had a blast and the setting was so pretty!
This kids loved going through the tunnel and although you can’t tell- all of the kids were screaming!
This is Mateo- his parents are clients (and friends) of mine that came to la escuelita after I told them about it.
and within 5 minutes of being there he found a cat.
I nearly died when I saw this sweetness.

this is what happened when a photo client had to reschedule on a beautiful fall day in Seattle. I got my kid out of school early.
We recently started having Sennet do chores. So far, his responsibilities include feeding the dogs twice a day, helping unload the dishwasher and putting away his clothes into the proper drawer. He likes feeding the dogs but not sure the dogs like it because he measures exactly one cup and there is no overflow- I think they might be hungry. The dishwasher chore was a complete disaster the first time. He kicked and screamed and refused to do it because he didn’t want to get wet- even though I told him that I would do the dishes in the sink. He even threw some plates on the ground that I had already loaded because all of the sudden he did want to help. He lost his legos and the ipad that day. Today, he was super cheerful and took the utensil sorting very seriously. I should have gotten photos from the first attempt- but I was barely not killing him so….
Sennet and I made a quick trip back to Fort Collins to visit with Grandma last Friday. Stacie was busy with both real estate work and photoshoots, so she couldn’t make the trip this time. I think this is the first time Sennet has been away from her more than a night – ever. He had a lot of fun at Grandma’s, but every night before we went to sleep he would say, “Dad, I miss mommy.” So sweet.
But he really enjoyed himself at Grandma’s. She made him hot chocolate (a few different times), and she had borrowed a big wheel and a Razor scooter for Sennet to ride. And ride them he did. He was very intrigued with the big wheel, as I don’t know if he’s ever ridden one before. He rode it around the house and around the block every day.
I also took him to the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, and he had a blast looking at the stuffed animals and playing with the hand’s-on musical instruments.
We got kind of lucky with the weather. There had been snow in the morning that we had arrived, but by the time we touched down it was gone and the roads were dry. It was chilly that first day, but the rest of the time it was beautiful fall weather – around 60 degrees and sunny.
On Sunday he rode the big wheel over to Dunn Elementary and we found a couple soccer balls on the field. We played soccer and he practiced being a goalie. Then we played tetherball for a while, and he played on the swings and slides.
We also went out to dinner at our old fave, El Burrito, and breakfast one morning at the Farmer’s Table and the next morning at the Back Porch. Grandma made excellent dinners for us the other two nights.
A great, if too quick, visit.
We took Sennet to the big fair again this year. It is now called The Washington State Fair and was formerly called (but will always be known as) The Puyallup Fair. It is so dumb “they” are trying to change the name after a million years…. Sennet really had a blast and wanted to ride everything except for one really tall thing that goes up and down- which is good because I didn’t want him to ride it and he isn’t quite tall enough. I, on the other hand, was so scared on the ferris wheel and swing that I literally thought I would die.
He didn’t ride this one yet either (thank god!) because he isnt tall enough. But he wanted to ride it…
But he did ride this one!
