Busy Weekend: Skiing & Baseball
Sennet had ski lessons AND baseball camp this past Saturday. Ski lessons at the Summit at Snoqualmie from 9:15 to 2:30 and then pitching and hitting clinics at Seattle University from 3 to 5. We ended up leaving his ski lesson a bit early in order to make it back to Seattle for the baseball. It was a long day, but he was very happy about the whole thing.
He and I took a couple of runs before his lesson started, and then when I met him for lunch he skied up to me and yelled, “Dad, my instructor is AWESOME! He doesn’t take as many breaks as last year and we get to ski a lot more and he goes FAST!”
After lunch I let him do a couple “solo runs” by himself, where he got to go get on the chairlift, ride it up, and ski down to me. The first time I told him he could do one, he thought I was kidding. “You mean I can really go up by myself?” I think he was pretty pleased that he got to do it without any adults. When he skied back down to where I was waiting, he did a couple jumps off a little lip under the lift tower. The second one was almost disastrous, as he came in pretty hot and had his weight too far back. But he landed it and pulled off a nice recovery and didn’t crash. He was very pumped – he kept talking about it all weekend.
He was also very thrilled with the baseball clinics. The first hour was focused on pitching skills, and the second hour was on hitting. He actually had the baseball camp on Sunday as well, same times.
