Flag Football
Preface: Sennet was asked to join a flag football team coached by the Radiator Whiskey and NSB All Stars coach, Jordan Pane’e. He said he didn’t want to, but we told him to just go to the practice and see how it went. He went to the first practice, and had fun – almost everyone on the team is a friend and baseball teammate. He still hemmed and hawed a bit about it everytime we went to practice. Last night was the last practice before the season started. He whined and moaned and said he didn’t want to go, he didn’t like it, and that he wanted to quit football. I told him that he had to go to the practice and play through the first game. If he still felt like quitting he could. After practice last night he said he had fun and he apologized for never wanting to go to practice (he does this with soccer too – but never baseball).
So today was the first game for the Meadowbrook Dawg Pack, his flag football team. The game was at 9:45 and then he had a soccer game in Shoreline at 11:45. His flag football team was going to play a scrimmage after their game, but he would miss that to go to the soccer game.
The Dawg Pack won and he had a blast. Midway through the first game he came over and asked if he could miss the soccer game so he could play in the scrimmage. Stacie and I discussed it and told him that was fine. (The soccer team has 5 extra players, and the football team had 3 people out today, so they had no one to sub in.)
After the first game he said he loved football and that it was his second favorite sport… then he paused and said,
“No. No, golf is my second favorite. Then football.”
(Of course, he’s never played a round of golf yet, but loves going to the driving range and putting green).
Here’s some footage of the football games…
