These pics were taken on New Years Day 2012. It is really hard to believe Sennet is 2.5 years old! This series of shots included lots of laughs and a few times outs- thus lots of tears. I included both for your viewing pleasure. Photo taking is not advised when you have a toddler in time out- it is very distracting to the toddler 🙂

There is a book called “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime” that is about an autistic boy who does some investigating when a dog in his neighborhood is found dead. One of the weird quirks about the boy is that he has severe apprehension towards certain colors therefore his father often added food color to his food so he would eat. Well, I am now indulging Sennet’s green obsession by coloring food green so that Sennet will eat it. It actually started with blue because I asked Sennet if he would like some yogurt the other day and he said “yes, blue yogurt.” Blue means blueberry- but we were out of blueberry. Rather than risk a potential meltdown, I just added some food coloring. Since then, I have added green to applesauce, colored oranges green (yes he asked for green oranges), made green eggs, added green to cream cheese, etc, etc. Let’s just hope food coloring doesn’t cause cancer because for now it is making my life much easier. And no, I am not saying Sennet has autism- he just likes green.
Kevin bought Sennet some new pajamas that combine two of his favorite things- green and frogs. They are a HUGE hit.
The blue yogurt that started it all.
Did you know that gel food coloring doesn’t mix in eggs? Me either! It is hard to tell in this photo but once the green gel didnt mix in, I added green drops that are neon. These eggs looked like they had radiation.
Thus far I have been pretty lucky that I have not had to take Sennet with me on many shopping trips. Kevin has braved Costco with him a few times but today was my first time taking him. Before we even got in the car, Sennet as very unhappy with the way I let him close the door. He is a very particular kid- long story. Anyway, he sat on the porch for 12 minutes (from the point I first glanced at my watch) screaming, taking off his boots, throwing his water bottle, dumping out his snack bag…. I stood by the car the entire time and just kept asking if he wanted to come to the store with me or not. A few neighbors watched the meltdown- fun times. And then, literally out of no where, he put on his boots and put a huge smile on his face (like this incident never happened) and walked out to the sidewalk. I had no idea why until he yelled “green trashtruck” and jumped up and down and waved at the trash guys- who by the way totally ate it up. Oh- and the Costco trip was fine once we got in the car.
Sennet’s already taken to the guitar. (After all, it’s what he asked Santa for…)

We have thought Sennet was ready to “fully” potty train for sometime now but really needed the school to be on the same page. When he moved up to the toddler room in September, he started wearing pull-ups full time in class and he had been wearing them for over a month at home. The teachers said he was doing really well (better than the girls) especially since he was one of the youngest in the class. Three weeks ago, we started taking big boy underwear to school and he wore them in the afternoon after nap. After two weeks he was in underwear all day except for nap when he sleeps with a pull up. So far, only one accident at school. Now at home and school he is in big boy underwear full time except for naps and bedtime. Although, more often than not his diaper is dry in the morning too. However, the one night I forgot to put him in a diaper he came in my room at about 2 am shouting “mommy, I’m all wet.” I have to admit, it is a bit nerve-wracking leaving the house with big boy underwear but they say it is confusing for them to wear pull-ups some of the time (because it works better for me) and some of the time in BBU- so we have made the leap full time to big boy underwear!!

Sennet loved his Christmas gifts from Santa, Grammy and Aunt D. We have been talking about Santa for a few weeks so he wouldn’t be scared. Trying not to make a big deal about Santa but also trying to start the tradition, Sennet and I made cookies last night for Santa. This morning Sennet woke up around 6 am and Kevin and I both think he would have gone back to sleep if it weren’t for the idea of Santa floating around in Sennet’s head. Either way, he enjoyed opening up his presents and seems to love all of them- especially the guitar- which is what he asked Santa for. He doesn’t seem to mind that it is blue. We’ll post some videos with his mad guitar skills later!
