Swimmer
Allison and Michael had mentioned that the pool at the Rainier Beach Community Center was warm, so I decided to take Sennet down there to try it out. The pool at Medgar Evers was always a bit cool, and the air was too – leading to Sennet freezing and sometimes crying after we would get out of the pool.
The pool and air at RB was much warmer – deliciously so. And it is a much newer and nicer building. It even has a water slide, which Sennet isn’t quite tall enough to go on. You have to be four feet tall or 6 years old. He’s two inches shy of four feet. Probably be there by February!
But he loved the pool, he never once shivered (which was a constant occurrence at ME pool) and had a blast. We bought him a pair of googles and he loves putting his head under the water and swimming around. He’s also tall enough now that he can stand up in the 3 and 3.5 foot areas of the pool, and that has helped his confidence greatly too. RB pool also has a separate kiddie pool that’s only a foot deep and has a sprinkler and dumping water buckets feature. He doesn’t go in that one too often, but enjoys hopping into it now and then. We’ve hit up the RB pool every weekend since we first went (3 weeks in a row now.) We’ll get him into swimming lessons again soon.
(Stacie also bought me a new case for my iPhone, which is waterproof, so I was able to take some action photos and video…)
