Wading pool
Like most cities, Seattle had quite a few budget cuts this year and our local wading pool lost its funding for the summer season. The most annoying thing isn’t so much that we lost our funding, it is more about the wading pools that did not lose funding are in the neighborhoods that always get priority funding- better schools, new libraries, etc. Thankfully, the locals that use this park, raised the money one dollar at a time to fund the wading pool for Saturdays in July and August. They set up a donation page and we donated $20. It is super sunny and hot in Seattle so we took Sennet down to the wading pool / park- might as well get our moneys worth. He loved splashing around with the other kids and he had lots of fun in the sun. This particular park has a basketball court including a youth height hoop and Sennet usually gravitates towards the court and he has no idea he is two. The court was pretty packed today and he doesn’t understand why he can’t play with the big kids. For the most part, the kids were pretty patient with him but there was one tween girl who didn’t do a very good job hiding her disdain for the little kid who kept snagging her ball…. still a fun day.
